HSERV 198 - Pre-Practicum SeminarCredits: 3 Variable Credit Course: No Lecture Hours: 33 Lab Hours: 0 Worksite/Clinical Hours: 0 Other Hours (LIA/Internships): 0 Course Description: Designed to prepare students for successful participation in community-based fieldwork and to provide needed information and skills that will allow the student to identify and secure a field-placement appropriate to the student's needs, interests, and abilities in subsequent academic quarters. In addition to developing a working understanding of the necessary tasks and paperwork required in a field placement experience, this course will focus on a review of (1) agency and employer needs, (2) effective workplace communication, and (3) self-awareness in the workplace. Presents information on state credentialing, an introduction to ethics, and the development of a practicum site. (Not required for fast-track students). Prerequisite: None. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No Student Learning Outcomes
