WT 116 - Introduction to Welding Metallurgy Credits: (5) Metallurgical theory as it applies to the welding of ferrous and nonferrous metals. Covers properties of metals, melting and solidification, phase changes, weld bead chemistry, and heat affected zones. Effects of alloying elements and heat treatments will be investigated along with welding-induced distortion and methods for distortion control.
Prerequisite: WT 112 and WT 221 with a “D” or higher. WMATH 100 with a “D” or higher or concurrent enrollment.
