Course Description: A learner-focused course designed to orient students to the I-BEST and Professional/Technical certificate and degree programs; resources and services; to appraise students’ current abilities, characteristics, backgrounds, and interests; and to help students set long-term and short-term goals and create a plan of action to meet those goals.

Student Learning Outcomes

  2. Appraisal of current student abilities, characteristics, learning styles, and readiness to learn.
  3. Student’s personal, educational, and employment background and interests.
  4. Student’s skill gaps, learning deficiencies, and difficulties.
  5. Barrier identification with strategies, recommendations, and interventions for improvement.
  6. Student’s long-term and short-term goals and identification of the skills needed to reach those goals.
  7. A plan of action for the student to achieve the goals (personal learning/action plan).
