Course Description: A semi-intensive support course for SVC students in the EAP Program who are taking a linked 100 level or higher non-EAP reading-intensive course.
Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test score, C or higher in EAP 97, or instructor permission. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Read academic texts using appropriate reading strategies such as making personal connections, stating opinions, analyzing word parts, paraphrasing; and/or Reading Apprenticeship Routines from Reading for Understanding by Schoenbach, Greenleaf, and Murphy (2012).
- Utilize a variety of study strategies such as flashcards, Cornell Notes, study groups, online quiz creation tools, and campus tutoring services.
- Experience a variety of academic assessments such as test types, writing assignments, and presentations as appropriate for the linked course.
- Communicate how power, privilege, equity, and empathy affect our daily lives by engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse texts and media.
