Course Description: An intermediate studio course in which students develop drawing skills with an emphasis on composition and technique.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Understand the development of composition and technique in drawing.
- Create both formal and informal compositions in their drawings.
- Employ a variety of drawing materials to achieve communication goals.
- Critically analyze their drawings using the vocabulary of the discipline.
Course Contents
- Using lecture, video, guest lecture and gallery and/or museum visits, students will examine a variety of approaches to drawing and composition.
- Using group and studio exercises students will demonstrate skills in creating both formal and informal compositions.
- Using group and studio exercises students will demonstrate technical skills with but not limited to charcoal, pastel, oil sticks, watercolor and ink.
- Using notebooks, self assessments and/or formal critiques, students will analyze their work using using the vocabulary of the discipline.
