Course Description: An introduction to the fundamental principles and elements of two dimensional design. This course will emphasize visual communication through studio work, discussion and analysis.

Course Contents
- Using, presentations, electronic media, gallery/museum visits, and/or texts, students will examine the elements and principles of design and the influence they have upon effective visual communication.
- Students will analyze design work (theirs and the work of others) through self-assessment, group critique, group projects, and/or exams.
- Students will use the design process to create two-dimensional compositions that demonstrate understanding of the design elements and principles.
- Students will create unique images that effectively communicate ideas.
