Course Description: Training in skills necessary to gain employment in the automotive parts & sales industry, and as a service writer in all types of repair facilities. Learn a variety of techniques and software applications. Emphasis on oral and written communication, organizational skills, vehicle knowledge, parts cataloging, customer service, and other necessary skills for employment.
Prerequisite: AT 101 or concurrent enrollment. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No

- Define skill and job requirements of an Automotive Service Writer.
- Define skill and job requirements of an Automotive Parts Technician.
- Demonstrate understanding of proper people skills, customer relations, and communication skills by completing associated oral and written assignments.
- Demonstrate ability to manage customer complaints in diverse situations with people of diverse backgrounds by effectively engaging in classroom scenarios.
- Demonstrate ability to create and populate a work order by completing associated assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate understanding of warranties and labor time by completing associated assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate ability to decode Vehicle Identification Numbers using the course taught method.
- Demonstrate understanding of parts invoicing and mark-up by creating sample invoices.
- Demonstrate ability to navigate online parts cataloging systems by correctly locating parts for assigned vehicles.
