Course Description: Operation, diagnosis & repair of automotive brake systems including disc & drum brakes, hydraulic systems, anti-lock systems and computer controls. Perform diagnosis, service and repair on a variety of vehicles.
Prerequisite: AT 133 with a D grade or higher; and concurrent enrollment in AT 131 and ENGL& 101. General Education Requirements: - Fulfills Engage General Education Requirement

- Demonstrate understanding of brake service hazards and safety by conducting safe practices while working in the lab.
- Demonstrate understanding of brake system components and their function by correctly identifying components and explaining their operation.
- Demonstrate ability to determine appropriate brake system service by following a systematic diagnostic approach.
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose drum brake systems correctly by performing live-vehicle diagnosis.
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose disc brake systems correctly by performing live-vehicle diagnosis.
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose brake system hydraulic problems by performing live-vehicle diagnosis.
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose ABS and brake system electrical faults by performing live-vehicle diagnosis.
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose parking brake system problems by performing live-vehicle diagnosis.
- Demonstrate ability to diagnose brake power assist system problems by performing live-vehicle diagnosis.
- Demonstrate ability to repair a variety of brake system problems correctly including disc brakes, drum brakes, hydraulic systems, parking brakes, power assist, and ABS by performing live-vehicle repairs.
