Course Description: Introduction to the use of microcomputer database software for home and office. Provides an understanding of database software in general and Microsoft Access in particular, as a productive and useful tool.
Prerequisite: Strongly Recommended: Computer literacy and file management skills. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Create a database according to a provided design that includes tables, queries, forms, reports and imported data that enable database operations.
- Design complex queries incorporating joined tables, compound criteria, parameters, and calculations, that extract data for planning, reporting, and exporting.
- Maintain a database by updating table design, records, and relationships to ensure data accuracy.
- Create and modify basic and advanced forms incorporating multiple tables and controls that improve the efficiency of data management.
- Create and modify basic and advanced reports incorporating sub-reports and source queries that effectively communicate data in printed form.
