Course Description: Focuses on effectively meeting the learning needs of children whose first language is not English. Student will work or volunteer two hours each week in a classroom with multilingual learners.
Prerequisite: None. Meets FQE Requirement: No Elective Requirements: Fulfills Gray Area Electives Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Prepare curriculum plans for individuals and groups of bilingual learners.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate student progress to other staff and families.
- Discuss how to support bicultural development in a classroom environment.
- Articulate a philosophy of literacy development.
- Demonstrate methods and strategies that are effective in meeting the learning needs of children whose first language is not English.
