Course Description: A study of literary tradition and techniques outside of America, including literature in translation. May be organized around specific genres, themes, regions or time periods. Includes written and oral analysis of different genres, including fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry.
Prerequisite: ENGL& 101 with a C or higher. Distribution Requirements: - Humanities Distribution Requirement

- Understand, identify, and explain the major ideas/concepts from a selected period, region or genre.
- Apply critical thinking skills to reading, discussing, and writing about literature.
- Demonstrate the ability to see and understand the diverse perspectives that literature from a different culture brings.
Course Contents
- A chronological look at world literature, from earliest times to present
- A look at a particular regional literature, such as British, French, Latin American or African Literature
- A look at a particular time frame, such as Classical, Medieval, or Renaissance Literature
- A look at a particular genre or thematic approach, such as mythology, futurist, world feminist, or the literature of indigenous peoples
