Course Description: Focuses on the use of approved methods for collection, testing and reporting of results of samples taken to obtain data for submission to state and federal regulatory agencies. Use of appropriate methods for collection, testing and reporting of results of effluent samples used to control operation of Water and Wastewater Treatment plants.
Prerequisite: Either placement into OR co-enrollment in OR completion of a college-level Math course with a C or higher. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Work safely in a laboratory.
- Operate specific laboratory equipment.
- Collect representative samples of influents to and effluents from a treatment process as well as a sample of the process.
- Prepare samples for analysis.
- Perform plant control tests.
- Analyze plant effluent in accordance with NPDES permit requirements.
- Recognize shortcomings or precautions for plant control and NPDES tests.
- Record laboratory test results.
