Course Description: Introduction to methods of data management: Getting data from the field to the computer, organizing and storing data, describing and interpreting data, and creating data visuals. Emphasis is given to the use of current industry-standard tools.

Prerequisite: Admission to BASEC or Department Chair permission.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Utilize appropriate management solutions for natural resource data, including tools for data collection, processing and analysis, preservation, and sharing.
  2. Interpret data with descriptive statistics.
  3. Identify independent and dependent variables in a dataset, what type of data they represent, and what type of figure is appropriate for representing such data.
  4. Create informative scientific data figures using industry-standard software.
