Course Description: Introduction to methods of data management: Getting data from the field to the computer, organizing and storing data, describing and interpreting data, and creating data visuals. Emphasis is given to the use of current industry-standard tools.
Prerequisite: Admission to BASEC or Department Chair permission. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Utilize appropriate management solutions for natural resource data, including tools for data collection, processing and analysis, preservation, and sharing.
- Interpret data with descriptive statistics.
- Identify independent and dependent variables in a dataset, what type of data they represent, and what type of figure is appropriate for representing such data.
- Create informative scientific data figures using industry-standard software.
