Course Description: ELA Level 2 (Beginning ELA) Students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills.

Prerequisite: ELA 011 with a P (or placement into ELA 012).

Produce complete simple interrogative and exclamatory sentences in response to prompts.
Understand and use question words in writing and speaking. (who, what, when, where, why, and how).
With guidance and support, write three linked basic informative/explanatory sentences.
Develop vocabulary and be able to define words by one or more key attributes.
Verbally describe people, places and things; express feelings; ask clarifying questions.
Begin to use reading strategies while reading out loud from a level appropriate text.
Describe the connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in a text.
