Course Description: ELA Level 2 (Beginning ELA) Students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills.
Prerequisite: ELA 011 with a P (or placement into ELA 012). Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Produce complete simple interrogative and exclamatory sentences in response to prompts.
- Understand and use question words in writing and speaking. (who, what, when, where, why, and how).
- With guidance and support, write three linked basic informative/explanatory sentences.
- Develop vocabulary and be able to define words by one or more key attributes.
- Verbally describe people, places and things; express feelings; ask clarifying questions.
- Begin to use reading strategies while reading out loud from a level appropriate text.
- Describe the connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in a text.
