Course Description: This course is designed to help students gain knowledge of academic success skills necessary for completion of a high school diploma. Guides students through the process of developing a plan for completing the requirements for their high school diploma and transition to college.
Prerequisite: CASAS reading score of 225 or higher or instructor permission. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explore and document personal, professional, and educational goals.
- Identify HS21+ graduation requirements needed and create a plan to fulfill them through competency based assessments aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards and the Washington State Adult Learning Standards.
- Identify and locate support services and other resources available at the college.
- Utilize the writing process to write academic essays.
- Use computer skills/programs for academic purposes such as word processing, email, and learning management systems as well as applying information technology to increase background knowledge, access new information, and enhance scholarship.
- Respond to feedback from instructor, academic advisor, and classmates to create a learning portfolio.
- Compile evidence through a reflective portfolio assessment process which documents academic growth, increased proficiency in, and knowledge of content area skills.
