Course Description: Introduction to the stages of human development with particular attention to adult life development. Explores the relevance of ethnicity, culture, gender, socioeconomic class, sexual orientation and community in a person’s development. Required course for both Human Services degrees (including fast track students).

Student Learning Outcomes
- Discuss human development within the context of the delivery of human services to individuals and families.
- Review concepts of change and stability in the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial domains.
- Identify a variety of ethical and professional issues related to the study of human development.
- Recognize the importance of “timing” in the development of certain domains over the life span.
- Discuss the intersection of identities such as race, culture, class, gender, socioeconomics, and sexual orientation and the impact on development.
