Course Description: A continuation of MUSC& 142 , this class will cover non-chord tones and diatonic 7th chords, using these skills to harmonize melodies. Required for Music Majors.
Prerequisite: MUSC& 142 with a C or higher. Meets FQE Requirement: No Music Lesson: No Elective Requirements: Fulfills Academic Electives Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Write a piece of music for voice and/or instrument(s) notating it correctly, using conventional harmonization. Analyze music so as to extract the most of the composer’s intent of the meaning of the music.
- Identify at an advanced level, melodic rhythmic and harmonic elements of music and commit to notation.
- Sight-read music at an advanced rate of speed with a high degree of accuracy.
- Students will also research and identify performance proficiency standards at two 4-year universities or music conservatories.
