Course Description: This course addresses use of resistance weight equipment using proper body mechanics. Emphasizes strength training.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Exercise at an intensity to elicit cardiovascular and strength benefits.
  2. Demonstrate improved strength, mucular endurance, and cardiovascular endurance.
  3. Execute correct technique on each weight machine.
  4. Understand target heart rates for diverse age  groups and the F.I.T. principle. F-Frequency (4-6 exercise periods/week). T-Time (30 minutes or more duration). T-Time (30 minutes or more duration).
  5. Enjoy participating in aerobic fitness and weight training activities.
  6. Recognize aerobic fitness as a lifetime activity.

  1. Target heart rate/understand, use and record each exercise period.
  2. Fitness lab rules.
  3. Weight room orientation/correct techniques on each machine.
