Course Description: Introduction to the safe and proper use of hand and power tools commonly used in the welding and fabrication trades. Covers set-up, operation, trouble-shooting, and maintenance of saws, grinders, drill press, roller, sheet metal brake, and planer.
Prerequisite: WT 111 and WT 114 and WT 211 with a D or higher. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate safe shop practices and correct use of personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrate the safe set up and use of each covered piece of shop equipment.
- Perform basic cutting and forming operations using industry standard power tools.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance operations on hand and power tools.
- Be aware of proper safety guidelines per OSHA for each piece of equipment being used in the shop.
