Course Description: Apply communication, teamwork and leadership skills to plan a service project to address issues of significance to the LatinX community with an emphasis on mentoring and college access. This is the second of a three-class sequence.
Prerequisite: BUS 171 with a D or better. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Describe LatinX History and Contribution in the United States. Develop LatinX identity.
- Describe and recognize how power, privilege, marginalization, intersectionality play out in current LatinX issues.
- Engage in actions which promote team development process. Reflect and critically assess and enhance personal leadership abilities.
- Develop and apply meeting management and project management skills.
- Listen and respond actively, critically and respond appropriately in an interpersonal context.
- Communicate confidently and competently in writing, one-on-one, in small groups, and/or before the class.
- Identify personal self-disclosure, defensiveness, and nonverbal behaviors; listening habits; and conflict styles and apply/demonstrate appropriate techniques to improve any that inhibit effective communication.
- Use technology to effectively retrieve and manage information, solve problems, and facilitate communication related to assignment preparation, submission, and/or delivery and other classroom issues.
