Course Description: This course continues topics covered in high school algebra and completes all HS math requirements for the HS+ diploma.
Prerequisite: Completion of HSC 018 or Permission AND one of the following: completion of CCB 043, CASAS Math Goals score 236-250, or placement based on HS transcripts. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explain the relationships between whole, integer, rational, real, and complex numbers
- Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and simplify rational expressions
- Plot points, sketch, and describe the graphs of quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic functions
- Solve problems that can be represented by systems of equations and inequalities
- Solve quadratic functions, equations, and inequalities
- Know and use the basic properties of exponential and logarithmic functions in order to solve them
- Construct new functions using transformations
- Calculate and interpret measures of variability, standard deviation, and margin of error
