Course Description: Learn the foundational skills needed to effectively retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data using Structured Query Language (SQL), including working with relational models, cardinality, SQL statements, operators, and joins. Gain practical experience writing SQL queries to retrieve data from a relational database, join data from multiple tables, and aggregate data to answer analysis questions.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain the key characteristics and components of a relational database.
  2. Construct SQL queries that retrieve data from a relational database using the SELECT, FROM, WHERE, GROUP BY, LIMIT, and HAVING clauses.  
  3. Construct SQL queries involving multiple tables using the appropriate join type(s).
  4. Construct SQL queries to answer ad-hoc business analysis questions using simple aggregation functions.
