Course Description: Builds on the knowledge and skills learned in DT 101 and DT 111. Provides additional content about the theory and practice of dental therapy. Emphasis on dental radiology principles and techniques, identifying radiological anatomy, landmarks, and radiographic interpretation. Introduction to dental materials, impressions, dental photographs, and mouthguard fabrication.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Dental Therapy (DT) coursework from previous quarter.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Discuss principles and practices of radiation safety.
  2. Explain the purpose and techniques for taking periapical, horizontal and vertical bitewings, occlusal, and panoramic radiographs on adult and pediatric.
  3. Assess diagnostic quality of images.
  4. Locate anatomy and landmarks on radiographs.
  5. Document normal and abnormal findings present on radiographs.
  6. Document normal and abnormal findings present on radiographs.
  7. Explain the purpose and components included in dental examinations on children, teens, adults, and elders.
