Course Description: Introduction to Pediatric Dentistry. Topics include anticipatory guidance, primary tooth development and anatomy, diagnosis and treatment planning children, preventive and interceptive orthodontics, preparation and placement of restorations and preformed crowns on primary teeth, indirect pulp capping, and pulpotomy procedures on primary teeth.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Dental Therapy (DT) coursework from previous quarter.

Demonstrate pulpal therapy techniques and materials on primary teeth.
Restore primary teeth with amalgam and esthetic adhesive restorative materials.
Demonstrate preparation and placement of stainless steel/Hall crowns.
Restore primary teeth with amalgam and composite/glass ionomer materials.
Synthesize techniques and dental materials to demonstrate preparation and placement of stainless steel/Hall crowns on typodont teeth.
Discuss considerations and contraindications that impact treating special need patients.
