MANF 426 - Prototyping

Course Description: Explore and implement several iterations of the product design to confirm functionality, customer satisfaction, and manufacturability. Start with feasibility studies; then, move to visual and functional prototypes. The culminating project runs the alpha prototype through the Product Validation process.

Prerequisite: BASPD Director permission.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Produce physical models for analysis using appropriate modeling tools.
  2. Interpret CAD data through finite element analysis.
  3. Determine validity of a design concept as it relates to product design and market needs.
  4. PROGRAM OUTCOME: Implement various strategies for concept testing of a new product prototype in an industrial environment.
