CS 360 - Cloud Basics

Course Description: Introduction to the basic use of cloud tools (such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack or other current technology) including fundamentals and strategies for developing and/or moving applications and data storage in the cloud. Analyze cloud-based offerings and learn to deploy apps to the cloud, utilize cloud-based services, and develop cloud specific apps.

Prerequisite: Admission to BSCS program and Dept. Chair permission.

  1. Analyze the cloud services paradigm including an assessment of security, reliability, availability, scalability, and cost.
  2. Appraise data center design considerations, cloud management techniques, and cloud software design.

  4. Describe management functions including security and compliance, users and access controls in a cloud environment.
  5. Provision virtual resources in a cloud environment.
  6. Provision virtual networks in a cloud environment.
  7. Provision virtual machines in a cloud environment.
