Course Description: The focus of the seminar will be professional communication. Students will engage with their peers towards preparing for a range of communication scenarios in the field.

Prerequisite: ECED 409 and ECED 497 with a C or higher.

  1. Describe paraeducator standards of practice.
  2. Describe steps for referring students for academic or behavioral support.
  3. Use feedback and data to continue progress on their professional growth plan aligned with their needs and priorities.
  4. Create a communication tool to be used for collaboration with paraeducators working in the classroom.
  5. Use technological tools and communication strategies to create local learning communities involving learners, families, and colleagues.
  6. Use communication skills to collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and psychologists to support children experiencing trauma, including abuse and neglect.
