Course Description: ESOL Level 4-2 (High Intermediate ESL) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 43.
Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 41 (or placement into ESOL 42). Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No

- Organize key details in text.
- Categorize the eight parts of speech in Standard American English in text.
- Find capitalization and punctuation errors in text by applying Standard American English rules.
- Organize parts of a paragraph using transition words and/or phrases.
- Prepare questions and/or responses using agreed-upon norms to participate in class discussions.
- Use the Present Perfect tense.
- Identify comparative, superlative, and equative adjective forms in text.
- Differentiate between the first and second “If” conditionals.
- Create a basic resume using a template.
- Translate math word problems into corresponding math equations.
- Use technology to produce coursework.
