Course Description: ESOL Level 4-3 (High Intermediate ESL) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 51.
Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 42 (or placement into ESOL 43). Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No

- Summarize key details in text.
- Use affixes to determine parts of speech.
- Use Standard American English capitalization and punctuation rules when composing sentences.
- Compose a basic narrative and/or descriptive paragraph using transition words and/or phrases.
- Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions with diverse partners by building on others’ ideas and/or expressing their own ideas clearly.
- Use a combination of English verb tenses, including past, future, and present, to express ideas.
- Use comparative, superlative, and equative adjective forms.
- Use the first and second “If” conditionals.
- Communicate relevant information from a completed resume template by participating in a mock interview.
- Solve math word problems using math terminology and operators.
- Use technology to produce coursework.
