Course Description: Explore the process of product development and collaborative problem-solving in the context of preparing for a production run. Explore strategies for working effectively; use CAD/CAM tools to design and run simulations on a prototype product. Use shop equipment and tools to prototype, assemble, and test a finished product; and produce industry standard documentation of the full manufacturing process.
Prerequisite: BASAMD Department Chair permission. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Analyze strategies for working effectively in a team by researching and evaluating the outcomes of real-world team projects in a manufacturing organization or industry relevant to personal career goals or interests.
- Develop a team design portfolio of a product using CAD/CAM software by creating industry standard part, assembly, simulation, and tool path files.
- Produce a prototype product as part of a team by making use of laboratory tools and equipment.
- Create a product development report by following industry standard documentation processes.
