Course Description: Gain a basic understanding of how to view, analyze, plan, and create works of art.
Prerequisite: BASECE Department Chair permission. Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Analyze works of art to plan and prepare for the creative art-making process.
- Utilize various materials and tools in the art-making process.
- Create a work of art inspired by a subject, form, and/or content.
- Engage collaboratively in response to an artistic problem through creative art-making.
- Analyze design work (theirs and the work of others) through self-assessment, group critique, group projects, and/or exams.
Course Contents
- Through lecture, video, guest lecture and gallery and/or museum visits, view and analyze works of art.
- Individually and collaboratively practice working with a variety of 2-D and 3-D media.
- Create unique works that integrate subject, form, and content to effectively communicate ideas.
- Analyze artwork (theirs and the work of others) through self-assessment, group critique, group projects, and/or exams.
