Course Description: ESOL Level 1-2 (Low Intermediate ELA) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 13.

Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 11 (or placement into ESOL 12 or equivalent).

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Use common expressions in text and oral communication.
  2. Respond to simple Yes/No questions and some Wh- questions, such as who, what, when, where, why, or how.
  3. With support, respond to questions using the “to be” verb forms in the Present Simple tense.
  4. Use basic verbs of preference.
  5. Recall information from a provided source or experiences.
  6. Pronounce simple rhyming words and high-frequency single-syllable words.
  7. Compose a basic sentence with support.
  8. Recognize frequently occurring nouns, verbs, conjunctions, and prepositions.
  9. Ask and answer basic questions to seek help, clarify, and/or get information.
  10. Identify basic math vocabulary and operations.
  11. Use technology to produce coursework.
