Course Description: ESOL Level 1-2 (Low Intermediate ELA) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 13.

Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 11 (or placement into ESOL 12 or equivalent).

Use common expressions in text and oral communication.
Respond to simple Yes/No questions and some Wh- questions, such as who, what, when, where, why, or how.
With support, respond to questions using the “to be” verb forms in the Present Simple tense.

Pronounce simple rhyming words and high-frequency single-syllable words.
Compose a basic sentence with support.
Recognize frequently occurring nouns, verbs, conjunctions, and prepositions.
