Course Description: ESOL Level 1-2 (Low Intermediate ELA) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 13.
Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 11 (or placement into ESOL 12 or equivalent). Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Use common expressions in text and oral communication.
- Respond to simple Yes/No questions and some Wh- questions, such as who, what, when, where, why, or how.
- With support, respond to questions using the “to be” verb forms in the Present Simple tense.
- Use basic verbs of preference.
- Recall information from a provided source or experiences.
- Pronounce simple rhyming words and high-frequency single-syllable words.
- Compose a basic sentence with support.
- Recognize frequently occurring nouns, verbs, conjunctions, and prepositions.
- Ask and answer basic questions to seek help, clarify, and/or get information.
- Identify basic math vocabulary and operations.
- Use technology to produce coursework.
