Course Description: ESOL Level 2-2 (Beginning ELA) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 23.

Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 21 (or placement into ESOL 22 or equivalent).

  1. Distinguish between Wh- questions and Yes/No questions.
  2. Compose simple sentences in response to prompts with guidance and support.
  3. Describe people, places, things, or ideas, including relevant details.
  4. Produce voiced/unvoiced, vowel, consonant, and digraph sounds.
  5. Use the Present Simple tense.
  6. Use the Future Simple tense.
  7. Differentiate between count and non-count nouns, including quantifiers.
  8. Brainstorm routines that support career and/or educational goals.
