Course Description: ESOL Level 2-3 (Beginning ELA) students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing and comprehension with a goal to develop college and career readiness skills. Prepares students for transition to ESOL 31.
Prerequisite: Receive a P grade in ESOL 22 (or placement into ESOL 23 or equivalent). Meets FQE Requirement: No Integrative Experience Requirement: No
Student Learning Outcomes
- Respond to simple Wh- and Yes/No questions.
- Compose simple sentences in response to prompts and feedback.
- Compare people, places, things, or ideas, including relevant details.
- Differentiate between voiced/unvoiced, vowel, consonant, and digraph sounds.
- Differentiate between the Present Continuous/Progressive and Present Simple tenses.
- Use a combination of Present and Future Simple tenses, with guidance and support.
- Use count and non-count nouns with quantifiers, such as “There is/There are”.
- Create a personal plan to achieve career and/or educational goals, with guidance and support.
- Solve basic consumer math, with guidance and support.
- Use technology to produce coursework.
