Course Description: An introduction to the fundamental principles and elements of three-dimensional design. This course will emphasize visual communication and problem solving through studio work, discussion and analysis of sculptural forms.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of 3D design elements and principles through the creation of 3D art objects.
- Analyze 3D art objects using visual design vocabulary.

- Effectively communicate ideas through the application of 3D design principles.
Course Contents
- Using presentations, electronic media, gallery/museum visits, and/or texts, students will examine the elements and principles of design and the influence they have upon effective visual communication.
- Students will analyze design work (theirs and the work of others) through self-assessment, group critique, group projects, and/or exams.
- Students will use the design process to problem solve and create three-dimensional art objects that demonstrate understanding of the design elements and principles.
- Students will create unique art objects that effectively communicate ideas.
