Overview

This Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program is designed for licensed registered nurses, and current SVC associate degree nursing students, to advance their professional knowledge, leadership skills, and career opportunities. Building on prior clinical experience, the curriculum emphasizes person-centered care, leadership, population health, care coordination, evidence-based practice, interprofessional collaboration, informatics, and systems improvement. Flexible course delivery options support working nurses while fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and teamwork.

The RN to BSN aligns with Skagit Valley College’s mission to promote equitable and thriving communities through student achievement, educational access, and lifelong learning. The RN to BSN enhances career opportunities, increases earning potential, and expands professional growth. Many employers prefer a BSN for advancement and specialized roles, and this degree provides a strong foundation for graduate programs to become a nurse practitioner, nurse educator, manager, or researcher. Graduates will be equipped to deliver safe, equitable, and high-quality care to individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan.

Degree Options

The RN to BSN program is designed for individuals who hold a registered nursing license and have completed an associate degree in Nursing (DTA/MRP, AAS-T, AAS, or ATA), with an option for currently enrolled SVC nursing students in good standing to concurrently enroll. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is awarded upon completion of 45 credits of specified 300 and 400 level coursework with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.  Entry into a master’s program may require a higher GPA for admission, students are responsible for checking specific requirements of graduate institutions prior to application.
