Overview
The bachelor’s program in Advanced Manufacturing and Design (BASAMD) provides the skills and experience needed to advance your career in manufacturing across a broad range of industries and in both technical and managerial roles. The curriculum is based on solving real world workplace challenges related to production systems, automation, materials testing, safety, operations and project management, supply chain, quality control, technical communications, and sustainability.
Participants will draw on past educational and work experience while also working to build advanced skills and knowledge in CAD/CAM, data analysis, and technical problem solving. Participants will work closely with experienced faculty in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The faculty members are experts in their fields and hold elevated expectations while providing participants with program guidance and mentorship. The program is structured to provide participants with a balance between in-person and asynchronous online courses.
Graduates of the program will be trained and well-equipped to pursue a career with opportunities in a wide range of industries as technical leaders or managers in manufacturing and production environments. They will be able to apply their knowledge and skills to collaborate on the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing systems that are efficient, cost-effective, and produce high-quality products.
Degree Option
The Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Advanced Manufacturing and Design is a two-year, 90-credit career- orientated degree for those who hold an associate degree in manufacturing, a technical trade, engineering technology, or a closely related field or have earned 90+ credits of college coursework in a STEM related program.
The bachelor’s program in Advanced Manufacturing and Design has a selective admissions process and students may only begin the program fall quarter. Prospective students must attend a program briefing to receive application materials.
A Bachelor in Applied Science (BAS) degree is awarded upon completion of 90 credits of specified 300- and 400-level coursework with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in upper-level courses. Entry into a graduate program may require a higher GPA for admission. Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements of graduate institutions.

Specific tuition information can be found at: www.skagit.edu/admissions/tuition-fees. Textbook costs should not exceed $150 per academic quarter. Upper division courses carry a higher tuition rate than lower division courses.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing and Design program, students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
Program Admissions
Applied Bachelor degrees at Skagit Valley College are selective admission programs with a separate admissions process for these degrees.
