Education, State Initial Early Childhood Education Micro-Certificate

12 credits

All training for this certificate is based on the Washington State core competencies for early care and education professionals and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment in childcare and preschool programs.

A certificate is awarded to students who complete the following courses with a C or above in all required coursework..

ECED Initial Certificate

This certificate is equivalent to a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. It is the first of three “stackable” certificates aligned with step 5 of Washington State’s Career Lattice for Early Care and Education Professionals. Level 2 core competencies are taught and assessed, enabling students to be hired into entry-level positions in child care and preschool programs.
