Program Description
The Physics (PHYS) program at Skagit Valley College is designed to serve the diverse needs of the community by inspiring students with an interest in discovery and a desire for lifelong learning, as well as by promoting critical thinking skills. The Physics program provides courses for interested non-majors, science majors, and engineering majors. Two year-long sequences provide solid foundations in general physics: PHYS& 134 , PHYS& 135 , PHYS& 136 (algebra-based) and PHYS& 241 , PHYS& 242 , and PHYS& 243 (calculus-based). Both sequences emphasize lab work to offer students hands-on experience with physical concepts and analysis. Non-science majors with an interest in physics may choose to take PHYS& 100 , a non-lab survey of physics concepts or PHYS 111 .
